Weston
@ Rutger's Douglas Campus:
September 15, 1995
There
we sat, me and my three buddies. And there we watched... we watched
and we watched and we still didn't know what to make of the two
horrible opening acts.
Outside, various college student/punk rockers gathered, waiting patiently
for Weston to get on stage, and what did their wondering eyes behold,
but none other than Dave Weston, coming in through a side door, and
beating one of his sneakers against the ground senselessly.
Weston hit stage at around 11 pm wearing their boxer shorts and
shoes. I heard a few comments about how Weston cancelled, and the
Chili
Peppers were playing instead. The band opened with a few new songs
before diving into "Just like Kurt" and "Feet." Every now and then
they'd stop and get mocked by the audience.
Weston:
Hey we're Weston from PA, remember our motto you always have
a friend in PA.
Loud
Skinhead: Yeah well you're in NJ where the weak are killed
and eaten.
Weston:
OK, you're god, just don't hit me.
The
small crowd really got into the music, and the pit was fierce
by the end of the show, but Weston seemed to lack their usual
intensity—they just didn't seem too into playing. Too bad.
