So they might not sound like The Eagles or play death metal, but this troupe of retro rockers led by mustachioed madman Jesse Hughes tore up the joint with tunes that just straight up rocked.

For those wondering, EOD skinsman and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme’s was not behind the kit, but the trio of musicians that appeared on stage at the legendary punk club CBGB were the sloppiest, coolest, most rock n’ roll band the club has seen since The Ramones tore the place up so many decades ago.

Pumping out their entire repertoire in just over a half an hour, EOD came off every bit as awesome as their debut release “Peace, Love and Death Metal.” Opening with “Bad Dream Mama” Hughes tore into his guitar creating masterful distortion. No bass in this band, just two guitars and a drummer hiding way back in the rafters. The two axemen took center stage, and just fed off each others love of noise.

The band skipped their cover of “Stuck in the Middle With You,” opting for a Stones song instead. The crowd watched in a daze at first, deciding whether the band was as insane as their sound. Halfway through the set, the club hoppers were dancing away a begging Hughes for more. Too bad the band is going to need a new album to stretch out the set, and lord knows we’re begging for some more death metal.
