Johnny Thursday and The Friday Knights
“…Ruin It For Everyone”
Hangmen Records
Board up the windows, there’s a riot coming through the tri-state area and its name is Johnny Thursday and the Friday Knights. Equal parts rock ‘n’ roll frenzy and punk rock explosion, the Knights tear up this record from beginning to end.
Singer Johnny Thursday’s vocals are pure Bon Scott-era AC/DC, but unlike his hero, The Knights never get formulaic. Every song is fresh and every riff grooves lke nobodies business. Tony X-Mas pounds the skins like a bat out of hell and the guitars are pure distortion orgasm.
Key tracks include “Ladypants,” an ode to hipster dudes that strut their stuff in the woman’s section of Macys, a fantastic cover of The Misfit’s “Where Eagles Dare,” and “The Kneedroppers,” a super-mellow number that features a chorus of female soul singers.
If you think good rock ‘n’ roll can only be found in some Scandenavian country, think again. Johnny Thursday and the Friday Knights are wrecking rock havoc on the East Coast and are set to take over the world.
