Fat Wreck Chords

NOFX are back and they are still knee deep into their War on Errorism. This 6-song ep is a taste of what’s to come, and from the sound of it, it looks like NOFX are six songs into their own “Jesus of Suburbia.”

Much like Green Day’s multi-platinum opus, NOFX has taken the holy trinity (religious symbolism, American stupidity, and punk rock) and molded it into six of the best tracks the band has ever set to tape.

“Seeing Double at Triple Rock” is an ode to the church of alcohol and NOFX are the leaders of the congregation. The guitar work on this track is incredible, harking back to some of the band’s rock classics. “The Marxist Brothers” is a look at kids who try a little too hard to be corporate anarchists. “The people’s revolution is going to be a podcast,” Fat Mikes sings against a Clash-style rasta riff.

“You’r Wrong” goes the alternate route, taking conservative ideals to task and tearing them apart all parts sung over a delicate acoustic guitar track.

The best song on the record is also the least in your face angry. “Everything in Moderation (Especially Moderation)” reads almost like a mini-biography of Fat Mike’s adult life. “When your band has been a band longer than The Ramones, and the critics call you ‘the punk rock Rolling Stones/’ That’s when you know this is for life,” Mike sings. At this point anyone over the age of 25 stops and starts doing the math… shit NOFX has been around longer than The Ramones.

And this is their best collection of music to date.

Doesn’t Rock l Kinda Rocks l Rocks l Really Rocks

That line sparked me to look that fact up, and hence find this site. Every source I’ve found places NOFX as forming in 1983. This is about the time I thought they formed anyway.
There is no way they were around longer than the Ramones.
The Ramones formed in 1974, long before NOFX was even thought about. Even if you go with 77, the Hayday of CBGB’s, this is still way off. How do they explain this line?

they are meaning that the band has been together that long. the ramones came first, but they mean nofx has stayed together longer
