“This Was Always Meant to Fall Apart” starts out with “Obsolete”, a quiet indie rock jam that sounds like Hopesfall or Code Seven. I started to think, hey maybe Ferret put out another good record like the Boys Night Out disc–then the second track started and it was all tech metal/math rock and I wanted to cut my ears off.

“On Fire” slows down the metal and takes a more Helmet-like groove that suits this band so much better. This band could be great if they stuck to this style. Another track that works well is “Lyssophobia”. The rest of the record is one huge blur of metal guitars and screams.

Check those two tracks out for a quick metal fix, but avoid the rest. Ferret better shape it up. For fans of Nora and everything else where every song sounds the same!
