Komety are awesome. Not because they are especially talented, but because they are so damn cool. “Via Ardiente” is an import CD of songs translated to English from Komety’s native Polish language. The band is technically a psychobilly group, yet the music on this record swings from acoustic flamenco to jazzy lounge tunes without batting a lash.

Sure, tracks like “I Don’t Know” and “Running Wild” tow the psychobilly line, but there is no mistaking Komety for the Demon City Wreckers. The bass player regularly switches between an upright and an electric, meaning more variety and lots of different grooves.

The vocalist has a singing style that hints at an underlying love for Morrissey and Joe Strummer. The guitars rock when they need to rock and compliment the rest of the band when they are more subdued. Komety is a band that needs a big warning label on the front cover that reads: Music for people who have heard everything and need to have their minds blown away!!! Just don’t expect that much psycho, or ‘billy for that matter.
