Beat on the Bratz

Beat on the BratzIn an effort to save kids and parents from the torture of Barney, Raffi, the Wiggles, and countless other unspeakable horrors, Go-Kart Records will be releasing Brats On The Beat: Ramones For Kids on Nov. 21. Featuring an all-star cast singing some of the Ramones’ classic hits, this album is not only a tribute to one of rock’s most respected legendary bands, but also a solid collection of kid-friendly songs that any self-respecting parent would want their offspring to sing along to. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this disc will go to St. Jude’s Children Hospitals. “This record’s cool because it’s not children’s music,” says Brett Anderson of The Donnas. “When I heard that kids would be singing on the tracks too, I knew this was gonna be an awesome project.”

Adds Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio: “I got involved with Brats On The Beat because Ramones were and always have been one of my favorite bands. I grew up listening to them and learning their songs and they have been and always will be a huge inspiration. The fact that this record is geared towards younger kids is also a really cool thing as i have two nephews - both three- that are also big Ramones fans. It’s cool to be a part of turning the little ones onto such a great band!”

With timeless Ramones classics such as “Blitzkrieg Bop”, “Rock ‘N’ Roll High School” and “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker” kiddified by the Gabba Gabba Hey Singers, each song features kids singing all the choruses and background parts. An amazing array of artists signed on to sing the leads, including Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio), Greg Attonito (Bouncing Souls), Brett Anderson (The Donnas) Jack Grisham (TSOL), Blag Dahlia (The Dwarves), Jim Lindberg (Pennywise), Nick Oleveri (Mondo Generator, Queens of The Stone Age), Tony Reflex (Adolescents) and Josie Cotton (of the 80’s hit “Johnny Are You Queer?”).

“Kids know a catchy song when they hear it,” says Brett Anderson. “The Ramones have so many fun songs that they can really get into without having to be about ‘wheels on a bus’ or whatever.”
