David Choe at Johnathan LeVine Gallery

I was a little skeptical at first as to how David Choe could single-handedly fill up all three rooms of Jonathan LeVine’s gallery space. While the world renowned graffiti artist does have quite a body of work, not even Gary Baseman could cover all those walls. Turns out I was wrong. Choe covered every inch of the Chelsea gallery with a bevy of styles ranging from traditional Asian-inspired prints to stunning paintings that recall modern graffiti masters such as Doze Green.

The highlight of the evening was checking out the installation that adorned the wall of the main gallery. Like an elephant in a room of meer cats, the piece drew attention from everyone with its vivid colors and traditional Choe imagery.

Bury Your Dead Singer Splitsville

Bury Your Dead

According to Victory Records, Mat Bruso will no longer be singing for Bury Your Dead. “He has decided that he has come to a point in his life where he must focus on more important things like going back to school to become a teacher and his upcoming marriage,” their press person stated in a release.

The four remaining members will be pushing on with the band and will be looking for a new singer over the next few months. The band said, “We have never had this much time off so we are just trying to find something to do with ourselves while we are home. We are bummed and apologize for having to cancel our European run with Killswitch Engage and The Haunted. We hope you all understand.”

For those that care, the band will be auditioning singer soon. Who knows, they might even end up on the next Rockstar TV show.

When It Rains, It Pours

Kaws has keeps busting peoples’ wallets this winter. This time he’s killing it with the third installment of his Dissected series and the fourth figure in the KawsXBounty Hunter run. Break out the black light (just kidding) the new Dissected variant is the loopiest yet, with day glow innards and jet black skin. The piece will be available on kawsone.com this Thursday, Jan. 4, at 2pm est. The Bounty Hunter figure is going to be a nice shiny GID piece. So far, not a single KXBH colorway has been spared for the Internet, and it looks like this one is no exception. Look out for it at the Original Fake store or the Bounty Hunter store in the coming weeks.
