NYC Bicycle Film Festival

The New York stop of the Bicycle Film Festival is almost over, but you still have a day or so to get down to 33 West 17th Street and check out “Joy Ride,” a gallery show featuring different artists’ take on bike culture. The opening night was nuts, with hundreds of cyclists, bike messengers, joy riders, and artists packed into a pretty massive makeshift exhibit hall. My favorite photo series was by Jason Goods, featuring different shots of girls and their bikes, every picture was packed with emotion, and every girl looked like they really loved their bike. The show itself was hot, smelly, and weed was flowing, but the atmosphere was great and the art was stunning. I wish I could have seen some of the films, but I was stuck in Jersey all weekend. There’s still a few more films showing tonight, Sunday, May 20, so check out the site for more info.
