Poetry from the Indie Music Scene

As I get closer and closer to 30, I’m coming to the conclusion that I’ve completely lost touch with the music kids like. There was a period in time when all the punks 10 years my junior were listening to bands that were just becoming popular as I was slowing down in the scene. I was so happy that they had discovered bands like Ignite, Strife, and Agnostic Front. Sadly, most of those bands have long since vanished, replaced by a new crop of angst ridden rockers that I don’t understand and do not appreciate it.

“Revolution on Canvas” is a book for this new breed of punks. It is teeming with corny poetry, over dramatic short stories, and even a silly screenplay. But what do I know? I’m sure if Rich Balling had come out with this book in ‘94, and the writers weren’t emo singers, but Greg Graffin, Milo, Henry Rollins, George Tab, and Ben Weasel, I would have been calling it a literary masterpiece.

So what it comes down to is this: If you are under the age of 21 and you are dying to find out what your punk heroes write about when they aren’t screaming at the top of their lungs, then this is probably right up your alley. It even comes in a cute little digest format that can fit into your skinny jeans.
