Kresge’s Back; Tiger Army Regains Balls

Guess it helps to have a giant custom King Double Bass with green tiger stripes in your closet.
Epitaph just announced that stand-up bass player Geoff Kresge has rejoined the Tiger Army fold. Kresge performed all live shows with the band from 1999 to mid-2004 and appeared on Tiger Army’s second and third studio albums, as well as providing back-up vocals on the band’s new album, Music From Regions Beyond. Jeff Roffredo has left the band on good terms to pursue other interests. Here’s hoping he doesn’t turn around and sue the band like certain ex-members of KISS.
“I don’t think people understand what a difficult decision it was for me to make when I left the band in late-2004, or that it may or may not have been for the reason(s) that the fans have heard or read about. Being given the opportunity to rejoin the band is an exciting prospect,” says Kresge.
For those who only kinda remember. Kresge quit Tiger Army to run a fledgling label only to have his star psychobilly band, The 12 Step Rebels pull a David Chappelle and break up on the cusp of stardom. He later joined psycho-pop outfit The Horrorpops as second guitarist, before adding his name to the laundry list of musicians that quit/were fired from the band.
Meanwhile, Nick 13 has been living it up playing emobilly in his latest version of Tiger Army, which basically looked like Nick and two high school kids fresh off a field trip to Sun studios. Without Fred Hell or Kresge, the Tiger Army look and sound has been kind of off. Here’s hoping the band gets back into the swing of things and starts pounding out great music again.
