A Conversation with Blek Le Rat and Doze Green

Graffiti legends Blek Le Rat and Doze Green chat about growth in the counter culture art movement, changes in style, and what the future holds for the scene.

The two were in the middle of prepping for their show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery, opening October 18, 2008. Thanks to the gallery for setting this up.

The film was shot on a Canon G9 point and shoot and edited in iMovie HD.

Bowl-A-Rama II: The Return of the Pins

If you get a chance, head down to The Asbury Lanes and check out the sequel to Bowl-A-Rama put on by Crybaby Gallery. A whole bunch of really great artists have customized real bowling pins donated by The Lanes. Artists include Kirstin Easthope, Sunny Buick, and many more. A handful of the pins are still on sale and all of them are on display through out the bowling alley. Squindo (who has a giant monster or two in the show) took the following photos of the pins for your enjoyment.

Lofty Exhibit in Jersey City


As part of Jersey City’s redevelopment plan, the city is allowing developers to turn crappy warehouses into luxury lofts. Who knows if the plan will work, but in the mean time, I a ton of artists have taken up temporary gallery space in Canco Lofts – one of the largest empty spaces I’ve ever seen. Seriously, there was like three acres of real estate used to house thousands of pieces of art – some good, some bad. There was also a ton of terrible music. But that’s beside the point.
