If you get a chance, head down to The Asbury Lanes and check out the sequel to Bowl-A-Rama put on by Crybaby Gallery. A whole bunch of really great artists have customized real bowling pins donated by The Lanes. Artists include Kirstin Easthope, Sunny Buick, and many more. A handful of the pins are still on sale and all of them are on display through out the bowling alley. For years now I’ve been hearing about this super secret Zombie Walk that takes place in New York City once a year. Thousands of undead ghouls rise from the grave and traipse around Manhattan scaring unsuspecting citizens.
The only problem is that I usually find out about it a day too late. This year, the Asbury Lanes was kind enough to host the after party for the local devilish procession and listed a start time. I was so going to be there to capture the magic on camera. You know, there’s something just magical about seeing hundreds of kids and adults covered in blood and oatmeal, wrecking peaceful havoc on common folk. Seeing the locals do a double take was so worth it.
The parade went down Cookman Avenue, crossed over to the boardwalk at the Casino, made its way to the Paramount, and then back again. Some of the outfits were cheese and some were amazing. Check out the slide show to see them all.

As part of Jersey City’s redevelopment plan, the city is allowing developers to turn crappy warehouses into luxury lofts. Who knows if the plan will work, but in the mean time, I a ton of artists have taken up temporary gallery space in Canco Lofts – one of the largest empty spaces I’ve ever seen. Seriously, there was like three acres of real estate used to house thousands of pieces of art – some good, some bad. There was also a ton of terrible music. But that’s beside the point.
