i've seen iron maiden 5 times from 1992 to 2003 and theses tickets were a bithday present. It was the best birthday preent i have ever had. It was well worth the money travelling down to London and waiting all day to hear the band was worth it because when they came on they just blew me away. when i got down there strve's daughter was playing and then the other bands came on but overall i went to see iron maiden and no one was in the same league music wise. cheers boys up the irons hope to see you soon with the new album.

I'm from Caracas and the last time I saw Maiden was back home in '92. This show was all I've dreamd of for years, when I was 15 years old I'd play the Live After Death video at home every day after school, that night at Jersey a dream came true, thanks guys. This trip to the US has already paid up by watching such metal giants as Maiden. They are by far the biggest band in the whole f*cking world. Watching the band with Adrian again was amazing. They will be always my favorite band no matter what musical roads I take and that night at PNC Bank Arts Center made me certain of that.

UP THE IRONS!!!!
FOREVER!!!!!!!

as soon as I heard the Live After Death album back in '85 I knew I was going to be a Maidennatico - as the brazilian guy put it above- for life.. seen maiden on 3/14 and 6/14.. and when Bruce told the crowd that we've all been at the Long Beach Arena show, he wasn't bullsh*ting. it might have taken me 23 years to be there but, what a show.. the coolest thing is seeing all the cameras and cell phones taking pictures each time Eddie struts his stuff on stage, is just awesome. definitely, the best band to listen to and see on tour, can't wait for their next album and experiencing the euphoria all over again..

I was about 13 it was around 85 and I went on the Canonball slide when I came out, I was F*cked up! I felt high and confused and yeah felt like puking, then they had these crazy beer stands everywhere and I remember asking my Dad if I can have a beer, he allowed me 1 beer and I thought I was the sh*t! My dad got wasted at those little beer stands (no ID required) and was swinging from that Tarzan rope into a lake of green sh*t like a maniac while my mom held her head in shame. That Alpine slide was awesome yet dangerous, I felt like I was airborne going down that death trap..I saw like 3 people that day with Rags of blood over their bodies...the place was a Damn Free-For-All for anyone to risk their life... I also saw a ton of drugs mainly pot that the workers would smoke right out in the open and ocassionaly some coke was snorted at the top of those slides..the workers would be congregating with their friends instead of watching the people, I also saw a few people "fondling" each other while a cute little 7 year old would be swimming around them... the place was nuts and dont let anyone tell you differenly!!! (I am not lying or exagerating, although the 80's was a crazy era)

Lets just say I went to Action Park MANY times from 1983 to 1989 (I had family who worked in the offices)...All the stories you heard were true, First off the employees who ran these rides, who were mainly teenagers, were all high on drugs, drunk or both... (one even offered my older sister a "LINE"! I will never forget that cause I had no idea what a LINE was!) The Canonball slide was crazy and yes they DID send a dummy through it, (My uncle witnessed this and the dummy came out without a head and arms...They kept that canonball slide open a few times over the years..My brother went on it and cried, then puked when he got out... I got so mangled on the Alpine Slide, and the spit from the people on the ski lift whoch is how you got up to the ride, made the slide so slippery!!! UGH! 89 was my last visit because I almost drowned in the wave pool, I was taken to the nearby Hospital Emergency room so since that very day, I am still afraid of water & waves.

ALL HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THE LAST! we got pounded by the storm on the way in, but all in all one of the best shows I've seen and just as powerful as the March 14th show.... KEEP ROCKING! It was a throwback to one of my first concerts ever at the philadelphia spectrum for the power slave tour (original) with special guest twisted sister.... for $14. bucks!!! Anyway can't wait for the new album and tour.

Just seen the Maiden show at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA. All I have to tell you people is to beg, steal or whatever you have to do to get to see the boys! Two solid hours of pure Metal at it's finest. I can't wait to see them return. I'm there!

I flew up from Miami (and met a buddy of mine who flew up from Atlanta) to see the 6/17 show at Camden. Without a doubt this was the BEST concert I've ever seen. I saw them for the first time 5 years ago, and THAT was the best concert I had ever seen. But, this one just blew that away. I've been a Maiden fan since the early 80s, and must have watched Live After Death several thousand times. And I felt like I got to be there in person almost 25 years later.

Maiden is just a band that never disappoints. There's no 'rock star' ego there. They come out with the intention of blowing the doors off the place and playing the best gig for the fans, and they succeed marvelously. The energy that emits from the stage is indescribable unless you've seen them play. These guys are in top form and I can't wait to see them again. I'm having major Maiden withdrawal now after that gig. There's also something to be said for Maiden fans as well. They are the most loyal, yet friendly crowd I've ever seen.

Sorry if I'm gushing.. That was a night I'll never forget, and I cannot wait to see them again. Up the Irons!

My son and his girlfiend bought me tickets to the Camden show for Father's Day, what a pleasant suprise. It was my fourth time seeing the band and they still sound as good as they did in 1986 when I saw them for the first time. Great show and keep rocking.Up The Irons!

I was at the Camden show.My first Maiden show in 15 years.Holy crap.I think the years only have made them better.Even with technical isses like Bruce's mike cutting in and out,and feed back it was absolutly one of the best shows I've ever been to.Funny part at the end they went to play the encore but they could'nt shut the lights down.Bruce played into a pretty good comedy bit about someone having to to get the lights working. He said they usually cut off the lights to make us wonder"do you think there will be an encore?"It was awesome to see them play the stuff they had'nt played in a longtime.I don'know why I paid for a seat because I was'nt in it the whole time they were on.It was absolutly electric."scream for me Philadelphia!!!"(even though we were across the river in Camden, but who gave a crap about that anyway

just git in from the camden,nj show.(6/17) i took my 2 sons g.t. who is 15 and jeremy who is 7. my oldest loved the show, it is my 3rd time taking him to see maiden in less than 2 years. this was my 7 year olds first real concert and he loved it. i put him on my shoulders and he was screaming and air drumming and i asked him if he was having a good time, his response " this is fantastic" the songs were the same from the meadowlands show march 19th, but it doesn't matter...they kicked ass. they get no radio play or real promotion from the record companies, i think they just connect with their fans. every show they do is awesome. they never disappoint...ever! can't wait to see them again and again and again. one sad note, at the end of the show i tried to get my little one a shirt, but the small was to big on him and he started crying. he wanted the shirt with eddie riding the motorcycle and the route 666 on the back. it was great feeling 16 again (certain songs just take you back to the good ol' days ) and for 2 hours i didn't have a care in the world, it was my sons, me and the greatest band ever iron maiden. perfect!

This show rocked from start to finish! Bruce was in top form, running around the stage like he owned it(he did!). Murray Smith and Gers were incredible on guitars and Harris and Nicko held down the fort. Truly one for the ages, and I'm glad I was there.

I drove nearly 3 hours to see Maiden, as I am from a bit further up north and my choices to see Maiden were either NJ, NY, or Boston, this Jersey show was the most convenient. I am not at all disappointed in the crowd or the band, both were fantastic. This was my first time at the PNC Bank Arts Center, and probably my 50th time seeing Iron Maiden (I've been seeing them since 1981), and let me say that when Doctor, Doctor comes onto the PA, I get goose bumps, every Maiden show is like my first, the Maiden fans are the friendliest, coolest fans in music, bar none. The show was great, the band was on, the weather was a bit raw and nasty, but lucky for me I was under cover in the seats. I love the huge theatrical show that only Maiden brings, they are the first and last of that type of band for me. I can't wait until they come around again.

The only sad thing is that they no longer tour as they did back in the 80's and 90's, when I had a chance to catch them 5-6 times on a tour in my local area, but hey they deserve the break, and as long as they keep coming around I will be happy.

My brother and I flew into Jersey from Punta Gorda, Florida and it was well worth it. The band was very tight and the sound and stage production was great. The crowd was soaked but in a very good mood. This concert rocked!

I flew from Tampa, FL to see this show. They won't play down south anymore, since the late 90's, and I haven't seen them w/Bruce since Fear Of The Dark. So, I figured, "What the hell."
I did not disappoint. Bruce sounded incredible even after all these years and the "show" was the biggest production they've ever done with many banks of moving lights, fire, explosions, walking Eddie and much more.
Hilights for me were Wasted Years and The Clairvoyant.

Tex here, the lead singer fr. Helldorado. My goodness, those were the days indeed. Nearly died but had a hoot! Best shows ever with the Rats. We did indeed disappear but not completely. We found Jesus and lived. Check out my new band (with my wife Tammy Lynn ex-Battershell) @ myspace.com/moteljesus

"Normally, I would pull it down, but after hearing what they sound like on iTunes I can’t argue that the band does not rock. At least not in the way we feel bands should rock."
You are entitled to your own opinions... if a Goth is entitled so is a mundane norm. And CXS may not "rock" but that might also be because they are not a rock band. I remember when I first heard them so long ago, I didn't know what to make of the electronic sounds and “odd” voice of the lead singer. Seriously, try listening to them again, and this time open your ears and hear the message behind the not rock music. The Cruxshadows ARE different. Instead of singing about killing each other and hate for man kind and how sexy they are and how they want to jizz off on their girls, the Cruxshadows carry life, meaning, promise, and hope. If everyone was meant to sound or dress the same, don't you think this would be a very sad boring world? If that's how "WE" think then I want nothing of it. If Di Vinci was told to only paint, we might not have airplanes today. What if normal people hadn’t liked Nirvana? And this was written about them. Put yourself in our place and think about how disrespectful and demeaning this sounds, not only to the hard working talented band members, but also to the dedicated fans.

You are entitled to your own opinions… if a Goth is entitled so is a mundane norm. And CXS may not “rock” but that might also be because they are not a rock band.
You are entitled to your own opinion, but so am i. I LOVE the CRUXSHADOWS. their music is spiritually moving, even if it is techno. If you are wondering yes, i do have a life. I am graduating from HS in a few weeks and am going on to college to be a marine biologist. I am a very happy person indeed. Sometimes i do get depressed but it is part of life and i move on. Dwelling on things is not good.

The point i am trying to prove is that i am not some school girl goth who is not going to grow up and neither are they. They are very good musicians but you just have to have the right kind of mind set. For instance i HATE hip hop and rap and pop music, but that does not mean they are bad musicians just that it is not my type of music. I do not hate the people who sing the music, i hate them for how rude they are to people like me before they even get to know us. They know nothing about us yet they assume they know it all just as you have done. I admit that i do not know a damn thing about you so i can not call you a jerk or say that you have a bad taste of music. All i can ask is that you ease up a bit on the Cruxshadows and try to know them and why they play the music they do.

Thank you very much and have a fantastic day!

I usually don't interject in threads on my own site, but I figured I would make some sense of the situation.

This review is not written by one of my regular writers, nor is the music reflective of what we cover here on Life In A Bungalo. I was contacted a little over a year ago by the writer who was interested in contributing to the site with music reviews from the Chicago scene.

I told him that was fine, but that we really only cover garage rock, punk, and psychobilly. We went back and forth on a few bands and I allowed the Cruxshadows review because they kinda have that dark goth style that some of the bands we cover share.

He went to the show, panned it, and mocked the band. The review is slanted, but he does a good job describing the situation and the show. Is he taking some creative license with the review? More than likely. Normally, I would pull it down, but after hearing what they sound like on iTunes I can't argue that the band does not rock. At least not in the way we feel bands should rock.

I'm going to stand by the review and leave it up. But I do want to thank you guys for singlehandedly spiking my visit rate and boosting advertiser and non Cruxshadow reader interest.

I hope you take the time and peruse the rest of the site and leave feedback elsewhere.

For the record, this writer no longer writes for Life In A Bungalo.

Take care

the real question is, why are the donnas still relevant since you arent a group of teenage girls playing songs some old guy wrote.

oh also- do you think it was right to exploit your sexuality when you started this band and you were all 15?

I know what the fuck im talking about and this murder was a pointless hate crime aimed at a man who wasn't even racist at all. James NEVER started fights, and was the best friend anyone couldve asked for. I would have been at that show if not for having to work. It is widespread corruption within Asbury Partners, the police, and Monmouth ocunty that let these gang members still do security at venues in the area.

I'm not going to bash their music, because unlike the founder of this site I feel like people have the right to appreciate whatever they want to listen to. However I will point out that MCR is not punk and were never punk. MCR=EMO not punk. I lament for the days when punk was actually about some message and not just a means to talk impressionable teens into cutting themselves.

First of all, the quote that you mentioned and the "kabuki mask" you referance is referring to the song "Wake The White Queen" which was wrote for a Neil Gaiman tribute album. The song referances the movie Mirrormask. And if you've seen the movie, you'd understand the reasoning for the comment and the mask.

I'd like to propose a task. Find me another internationally known band that is hailed as the forerunners of their genre that is as humble and attentive to their fans. Before I knew who they were, I was a 16 year old girl curious about their music at a sci-fi convention in Atlanta, GA. And Rogue sat down and talked to me for near an hour. Name one band that popular who's lead singer would take time out of his own day to spend an hour talking about his music to a young girl curious about it.

I accept the fact that not everyone is going to like their music, they're not everyone's cup of tea. But I agree with the poster that commented that your review was over the line of being just flat out disrespectful.

Feel free to insult the music all you want. Sure, a lot of the songs sound the same, when you're only listening to a small portion of it. And I'm sure songs referancing Greek, Roman, Christian, Egyptian, and several other sets of mythologies could bore some people. But when you step over the bounds of reviewing the music and start insulting the people creating the music, it is no longer a review.

dude you're just a moron who doesn't know good music when you hear it. if you didn't like it to begin with, why did you fragging stay though the whole thing? you're critical thinking skills obviously need to be returned to the third frigging grade. when I read what kids write, it makes me want to smack them, when I hear this band, it makes me feel better about life and the world. this band has inspired and helped so many people with their songs! including me.

Hey Sal, thanks for the nice words and for checking out the disc. Yeah, we just played three shows together for the first time in five years and had a BLAST! As far as the band evolution, we had lost Rick our original drummer not long after you last saw us and over the next few years did dive into a more straight rock sound but always throwing in our earlier stuff as well. It confused people a bit but we never gave a fuck, just played what we wanted to play. We live all over the damn place now but we're all gonna try to stay active a few times a year playing and recording. I wish I had another shirt to send, thanks for wearing out your old one!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if you did not enjoy the show you are more then welcome to post your views in public forums.

However your "review" crossed the line into disrespectful. Those people (whose music I happen to love and find inspiring, and I am by no means an angst ridden teenager listening to it in a darkened room!) are doing something that most people can't....they successfully captivate audience and build dedicated followings wherever they play. I assume, since you feel so free to criticize their "apparent" lack of talent, that you were only there on a much needed break from your own tour?
What was your point in mentioning Rogues's name? Do you think anyone ever thought Rogue was his given name? What he chooses to be known as is up to him, that is the persona he chooses to be on stage, and really, what right do you have to even comment on it?

And finally, I hate to be the one to tell you but, while you criticize his "whining" on stage, consider how this post makes you sound....
No one is forcing you to listen to music you don't like, so just grow up and let other people listen to what makes them happy

I admit, Pierce the veil is among a few new bands with familiar sound like Chiodos for example. (vocally) but Pierce the Veil is a great band and Vic is an amazing singer. since i mentioned Chiodos, they are fucking amozing too, even better so than Pierce the veil. for fucks sake, they've just begun, wait and see what becomes of them. i bet they only get better. lighten up a bit.

Why did you go to a Cruxshadows show in the first place? It is quite obvious their music and the goth scene is not your cup of tea. I find their music inspiring. Rogue is very sweet and down to earth with his fans. Perhaps thats why we don't see the need to rip him to shreds, He always takes the tme to share at least a hug with his fans. As for the violin solo, Rachel is a very good violinist, she deserves to be in the spotlight.

I believe you went to just poke fun at the goths. This is precisely the reason that most mundanes should be banned from Goth events. They are just there to give goths a hard time

Every time I read something written by a teenager it makes me really, really sad. Do they put meth in your school lunches? Oh, right, they don't actually teach anyone how to read, right and wage an intelligent argument anymore. Clearly though, that class on 'Affected Commenter Naming' was well taught.

Who are you to make judgments?! Who died and ordained you the "god" of knowledge?! Keep those horrid way wrong, just because you aren't living as grand a life as CXS, thoughts to yourself. Whoever you are, you sound like a sad jealous drama starter. And with that out look on life you will never find happiness.

Hmmm... I am a fan of the cruxshadows. I adore thier music. However, I completely respect your opinion, I actually thought your presentation of it is amusing. A link to this article has been posted on a Cruxshadows fan-forum. I'll warn you, the fans take this band a little too seriously(which is why I don't participate in their online fan community), you're in for a lot of stupid comments as narrow and uneducated as they will claim your opinion to be. Say it anyway, because censorship is bullshit.

All I see is a group of ugly to half decent looking guys being put up on undeserved pedestals by beautiful girls with horrible self-esteem. Not to forget the ugly girls willing to whore themselves out for a little taste of this “cool life” and the more attractive guys up for some free ass.

Boys well into their 20’s still acting out their 16-yr old, teenage rage and rebellion through bad music, “unique” mismatched homeless guy style, and forged egos. And somehow they’re multiplying and expanding in packs despite the amount of two-faced, back stabbing, and shit talk that seems to explode from their crooked mouths.

When did the desire to represent oneself as an over-the-top fan of redundant music and brotherly allegiance turn into this CRAP? The hardcore scene, the scene-scene – really, it is all the same. It’s a bullshit attempt by a bunch of kids to go run as far away from normality and a similar America. But on their endeavor to a new, helicopter-kicking, air-punching, and almost ostentatiously unique fad, they’ve crawled their grungy ass’s into another extremist “group” called hardcore. There is nothing distinctive or special about their so-called way of life. Their alleged loyalty can be defined as who’s the cooler “gang” (and yes, they CALL THEMSELVES GANGS HERE IN RICHMOND) with the ability to turn the newer, younger, fresh out of high-school with their strong ethics and recently healing straightedge tattoos into their bitches. A bunch of short-man syndrome, daddy didn’t love me enough, my only chance to have a family assholes. And no, this isn’t hate, it’s simply an opinion. And, of course, we all know we can have an opinion. Hell, if we didn’t, we all know you’d have no crappy scene to call your own. =)

Also, they're right, nothings wrong with silverchair. you obviously have not actually heard the entire album, because if you had you would have loved it. there is nothign wrong with there looks either. they are all quite attractive and very sweet. so back the fuck off.

...that's Pathetic!
after how you talk, i can't believe what you were doing there!
there are thousands who accually like their music, and about what you say about them "not smiling", have you ever even touched an instrument? it's accually hard to play correct, AND smile the whole goddamn time!
didn't you even see the other who were there? they probably loved the music, and here you come and act like a whiny b*tch!
i think everyone would be happier if you would shut your mouth about what you didn't like, and opened it on what you DID like.

I just wanted to let Pennywise know that you guys have a huge scene waiting for you to come down to South America.

Believe me when I tell you that in the life project I'm executing right now, you guys ideas and messages are the pillar of it. Please, never stop writing the songs you write and never stop spreading the message you spread in each song youguys have ever written and perform. This world needs it.

Cheers for Colombia, South America.

Hello.

I find you incredibly pathetic commenting on a guy's pants and hair style. You obviously don't listen to music but only go to shows to check out the guys around you. Why do you care what kind of pants he wears? What do you wear, huh? You probably look disgusting yourself. Judge the book by it's cover again. Sad.

I was looking for artwork for the My Machine lp (to go on my ipod after I uploaded from the vinyl) when I saw this interview. i live in Portland and found My Machine with a Suicide Kings lp stuffed in with it at a local goodwill. This has to be at least 5 or 6 years ago. i wonder if Mr. Drake may have dumped his copy?

The Cruxshadows are the most influential band ever. They have inspired thousands. I discovered this band a couple years ago and already I have met all the members many times and can say I know them very well. They are dedicated and loyal. Michael McNichols, You need to get your facts straight. As a matter of fact. You need to piss off you liberal wanker. If you dont like the music then piss off. Bet you never expected anyone to actually read your narrow minded views. Well, I did and frankly I am heavily offended. I wont be back to this site to read your pointless response so dont waste your time.

One of the things I will always regret was not getting out to see the Demon City Wreckers sooner. I had them on my list of bands to see, but didn't make it before Jason died. I often hang out with people who knew him and they still talk about and pay tribute to him.

Well, to take the other angle and play devil's advocate, I'm certain that Pennywise gets a nice kickback from myspace/textango for every download because of all the site traffic this will generate, not to mention secondary traffic for myspace. Site traffic equals ad views, and click through, which generates ad income, which then turns into money. Not that anything is wrong with making a buck off your music, bands deserve to make a living as well, and Pennywise have certainly put their time in. Plus, in this case the end user/consumer actually wins because they get a record for free. As an evil PR person, I just have to point out that this isn't completely altruistic.
