Leave Your Name
Jade Tree

Breaking free of his hardcore side project The Desaparecidos (at least for a little while), guitarist Denver Dalley creates a melancholy atmosphere on his debut full-length “Leave Your Name.”

Throughout the record, songs drift in an out of feedback, often finding themselves stark naked in a sea of subtle beats and trippy guitar melody. Things get heavier on “Mr. Nathan” and “Accomplishment,” the latter a mood-swinging rocker in which Dalley sings through some crazy voice distortion device.

In truth, Dalley treats his vocals as little more than accoutrements to his airy guitar playing. Every chord played on the record, whether power-driven or arpeggio is shuffled to the forefront. Dalley’s voice is as much a background instrument as the string outro to “Hours Seemed Like Days.”

“Leave Your Name” is a short, but fantastical journey into spiritual indie-rock. While not quite as cohesive as The Statistics sweet yet abrasive self-titled EP, Dalley’s latest effort is still a must hear for fans of inspirational noise rock.
