The Stepbrothers
"Baby It’s Over"
Licorice Tree Records
It’s been a long time since I’ve heard a new band that
I’ve liked this much. Straight up Rock and Roll with a Soul chaser,
the debut album by the Stepbrothers is gonna move you like no other.
Twelve songs about drinking, dancing, relationships gone south and
driving to Miami. For those not lucky enough to have last years’ limited-release
EP, you get another chance to hear my faves “Catch This Teardrop” and “Brand
New Dance.”
Two
vocalists goin’ back and forth, Rock and
Roll shoutin’ and Soul singin’. Damn, if this band doesn’t
make it to my town, I’m gonna have to go to Austin, Texas to
see ‘em. Featuring ace axe man Mike Mariconda (of the late Raunch
Hands) playing and producing. I swear, anything this man touches turns
to gold (see: the New Bomb Turks, the Devil Dogs.) All K-ROCK endorsed “rock” bands
take heed – this is how it’s done!
