Chiodos “Alls
Well That Ends Well”
EQUAL
VISION
This
one surprised me. Imagine Coheed and Cambria on Crystal Meth with
a lot MORE Dream Theater records.
This record
kills. Hands down
it’s the best record I’ve listened to all Summer. The songs
have so many time changes and insane guitar leads. Throw in video game
style keyboards, nutty breakdowns, and sung/screamed vocals and you’ve
got yourself a winner.
This
band hails from Flint, MI and apparently have found better things
to do than buy guns and kill
each other.
The opening track “All
Nereids Beware” is stunning. The album doesn’t let up and
soars through 13 incredible tracks. Beautiful artwork and great song
titles like “One Day Women will all Become Monsters” should
make this release stand out. I really hope Equal Vision gets behind
this young band like they did with Coheed.
You
can definitely hear influences ranging from At the Drive In to Slayer
from these guys. 6 guys are
in the band
giving them a huge sound
and the fact that they purposely stay away from “Verse-Chorus-Verse” songwriting
really gives them their own style.
Chiodos might dominate the world soon. Keep your eye out for their
tour in the Fall.
