Iron Maiden
"Death On The Road"
Sony

Now I'm as big of a Maiden fan as the next aging hipster, but dear lord, the band reunited with legendary singer Bruce Dickinson like five years ago and in that time they've released two studio albums, three greatest hits, three DVDs, and are now, with "Death on the Road," are on their second live record. Talk about milking it.

Just like ever record since "Maiden Japan," this is a solid effort with just as much focus placed on the crowd as on the band. The band is at the top of their game and the crowd respond to every word Dickinson cries out. The CD covers a bunch of songs off their last release "Dance of Death," as well as the token hits, "Hallowed Be Thy Name," "Wraithchild," and "Iron Maiden." The highlight of the record is a version of "Lord of the Flies," a song originally performed by their last singer that's done much better on this record.

Do we need another Maiden live record? No. Do we need another live version "Run to the Hill? No, again. But if putting out another live album means we're going to get another Maiden tour... be my guest. I'll be first in line for tickets.
