Seemless
"s/t"
Equal
Vision
This
band is ex-Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, and Overcast… so
you’d expect brutal metal right? Well this release couldn’t
be further from that. I mean don’t get me wrong this record fuckin
kills me, but its also very melodic and catchy.
This
is Seemless’s first release and it has been reissued on
Equal Vision. This is a bluesy, HARD, 70’s-inspired, stoner rock
masterpiece. The grooves and distorted guitar are blistering. Take
one part Life of Agony, one part Queens of the Stone Age, one part
late Corrosion of Conformity, and mix it up with some Led Zepplin and
you’ve got one hell of a record. Massachusetts will never be
the same after this record. Everyone involved in metalcore should fear
this band.
Guitarist
Pete Cortese lays the blues riffs on thick. The whole record has
a stoner rock groove that should
have
you holding up those horns
in no time. “The Wanderer” and “Soft Spoken Sanity” are
the two best tracks on the album and really present a Life of Agony
vocal style that I’ve missed for far, far too long in my life.
Jesse David is a great frontman. I think this band could be huge in
a few years and if given the right outlet could find huge success with
this record.
Simply
put this record is a change of pace. All of the conventions of hardcore,
metal and rock and roll
have
been thrown out the window.
We are left with 12 raw and powerful rock songs that stick in your
head. Perhaps following in fellow Boston natives Cave In’s footsteps
this band is set to surely surprise a whole new group of rock and rollers.
Put down that Bright Eyes record and pick up something with some balls.
Add some alcohol and you’ve got one of my top ten albums of the
year. I can’t wait to see this band live.
