7 Seconds
Take it Back, Take it On, Take It Over!
SideOneDummy Records

I was shocked when I got this album to review. Why? Because I hadn't realized that 7 Seconds was still releasing material. This is a band that truly encompasses the hardcore values that many bands today don't seem to have. As is my experience with 7 Seconds, they seem to follow a trend where they make a really good album, followed up by a so-so album. 2000's "Scream real loud" wasn't my cup of tea and I came away wanting more. "Take it Back..." is exactly what I needed.

Seventeen tracks of pure positive hardcore/punk from the guys who have been doing it since the early 80's. The sound could be classified as "pop-punk" but its still hardcore. It's the sound that Kevin Seconds has taken 20+ years to try and perfect. It's that So-Cal punk/hardcore sound we all love listening to. Whether it be Bad Religion, Pennywise or 7 Seconds.

After a few listens, it might be safe to say that this might be my favorite release by 7 Seconds. Kevin Seconds still sounds like he's 16, but thats cool with me. He hasn't forgotten his roots and is playing the music that has inspired an entire genre of wannabes.

The band still gives us the angst-ridden songs with a slight twist of humor to them. It's everything I've wanted from a 7 Seconds album. My favorite track by far is "Y.P.H" or Your Parents Hardcore. It's a song that talks about how some people think hardcore is just a fad in ones life. How after people are done with it, they move onto the next trendy scene. It's one of the better 7 Seconds songs i've heard in some time.
