The Bamboo Kids
"The Bamboo Kids"
Get Hip Records
Here
we have the self-titled LP by New York City’s own Bamboo
Kids. These fine kids have taken Keith Richards’ guitars, and
combined that with Stiv Bator’s vocals. Hopefully the Bamboo
Kids don't share their idols' penchant for opiates. The resulting album
is perfect Rock and Roll that I guarantee will rock your cocks off.
Now tell me you don’t want to go out and buy this album immediately.
This album starts off with their single, an anthemic ode to NYC,
cleverly entitled Caught in NYC, and with the exception of 2 songs,
this sonofabitch doesn’t slow down one stinkin' bit. What more
could a rock 'n roller ask for?
Just like a rock and roll band should, they come after
you with one good ol’ rock and roll song after another.
We got overdriven guitars, driving bass, and a singer who sounds like
he’s been living at the bottom of a bottle of Old Smuggler. I
love it all, from the staccato chorus in "Suck the Life Out of
Me" to the way guitarist/singer Dwight Weeks wails the chorus
on "No Sympathy." Even the two aforementioned slow songs
don't suck; actually, they rock pretty hard for slow songs. Ok ok ok,
I could do without the 2 accompanying piano tracks on "Don't Get
Better," but even the Misfits had a piano on a song… and
don't let me hear you say that the Misfits don't rock.
Simply
put, this here album is a great Lower East Side dive bar rock and
roll album. These guys pick right
where
D-Generation left off.
And like Martha would say, "that's a good thing."
