Sure, every band and their mother is trying to jazz up their records by blending new age style with modern rock and punk. None however, have been bold enough to tackle the funk fueled synth wave that tortured America during the mid-'80s. You know the kind? A world filled with vocoders, groovy synth bass, keyboard guitars and digital drum pads, and skinny ties—basically, a world were Corey Haime was king.

Enter Chromeo. A band that can rock your Member's Only jacket off with their keyboard-driven, pseudo vintage, schlock wave tunes. The songs are so cheesy, yet absolutely perfect.

"Gonna take my time, gonna make you my woman/ Friend/ Gonna make you mine cuz I don't want this love to end," singer Dave One demands on "Woman Friend." Sure the lyrics aren't that sexy, but damn that man's voice is fine. At least as fine as one can be singing over cheese more processed that Kraft Singles.

Chromeo is the greatest thing to happen to White boy synth pop since AFI bassist Hunter released his homage to Prince, "Revenge," a few years back. If you like your rock retro, and are sick of the newest wave of beat stealers, then Chromeo might rock your world. Or at least make your friends really worried about your mental state.
