Have you ever wondered what Coheed and Cambria would sound like if they were a hip-hop group? Me neither. This album is a totally unnecessary side project from Coheed drummer Josh Eppard. Josh isn’t that bad of an MC, but a lot of the material on this disc is laughable.

The production and beats are there, but the lyrics aren’t. “Conspiracy Theories w/o Mel Gibson” is a fun track. Lyrics are not included with the package, but Josh seems to drop all kinds of controversial lyrics. Songs deal with abortion, robots, calling women cunts, and various other juvenile subjects. Necro he is not. Vocally Eppard seems to use a traditional “dirty south”-style of rapping on most tracks. Sometimes Josh sounds like Eminem or Eyedea, other times he’s rapping a million miles an hour and reminds me of Bone Thugz N Harmony.

“Blueprint” is the catchiest song on the record which deals with a broken relationship and a new beginning for a cyborg-like Josh Eppard. It’s pretty bizarre, but the chorus is awesome.

I like the effort, but this kid’s gotta stick to his day job. Coheed is an amazing band and I hope Josh isn’t too distracted by his dream of being a rapper. This isn’t very good at all. Go buy the new Aesop Rock and Perceptionists discs instead.
