The
Rakes
"Retreat"
Dim Mak
Sloppy punk rock with a thick British accent. The Rakes play dirty
rock 'n' roll without an ounce of a pretenciousness. The guitars
can barely be differentiated from the drums. The beat sounds like
a temper tantrum, and the singer yelps more than he sings. Think
this record sounds awful—Thing again.
Now
given, this is an e.p., so who knows what's this band is going to
sound like when the inevitably get signed to a major label and start
hanging out with The Matrix, but in the meantime let's enjoy this
unscathed rock and roll gem turned that's turned up on U.S. soil.
