A Change of Pace
"An Offer You Can’t Refuse"
Immortal Records
Ok,
I’m going to try and be as nice as I possibly can because
for a band that has members in it that are between 16 and 18, they
are just doing their thing and they happened to get signed to Immortal
Records, so they had to do something right. But that’s not going
to happen, because the time has come for us to get rid of all these
disgustingly poppy bands that employ an occasional scream in their
lyrics and pass it off as screamo or whatever the hell it’s called
today. This garbage is made purely for the purpose to be on the radio
and have videos on MTV.
Sure the music is catchy and emo kids can bop their heads to it, and
jocks you go to high school with can dance like a moron when you see
them live, because
their music is “brutal,” but this is not music anyone in their
right mind should be listening to.
I might give this band a pass, but Funeral for a Friend has been
doing the same thing for a little while longer now, so maybe get yourselves
a new identity and make some music with balls please. Over the past 4 or 5
years, every new band has tried to sound like Thursday and has failed. A Change
of Pace tried and they failed. But I also get the sense that I hear
a Senses Fail like resemblance in their sound, and this is downright pathetic.
This is the kind of music that caters to the kids who listen to mainstream
radio and decided they wanted to listen to something with an edge. But this
music is not edgy in the least, frankly it’s awful. I feel that after
listening to the album in its entirety that I demand the band give me back
the forty minutes of my life that I lost by listening to this crap. I haven’t
been this offended of an album since I heard Cradle of Filth for the first
time. And that my friends is saying something.
