Guitar Hero World Tour Woes:
Broken Guitar=No Fun
Last Sunday, I received the $99 Guitar Hero World Tour guitar/game package and it worked great for a few days. I logged in about ten hours on the game and thoroughly enjoyed the older rock songs and the larger, sturdier new controller.
Much to my surprise, a week later, I started missing notes. At first I thought I was just tired and playing sloppy. Then I started losing at easy songs on the medium setting. I figured the wireless must be screwed up, so re-established a connection and tried it again. I started missing even more notes.
I tested it against the menu in the XBOX dashboard by just clicking up and down through the menu. After a few minutes of strumming up and down, I realized that the unit was registering up strums but only every few down strums.
It also turns out that I’m not the only one with this issue.
So here’s the problem. Since the set was a gift, I do not have a receipt. It’s still under warranty, but Red Octane wants $12 for shipping and two to three weeks to fix the stupid controller. I feel that ethically, I shouldn’t have to pay for Red Octane to fix it, but I still want to play the game.
